Living a life is like playing chess. One wrong calculation might result in the loss of the whole game. Majoring History at Texas A&M is just like a wrong calculation. Here nobody cares about liberal arts. The stereotype is that business and engineering majors are smart, and liberal arts majors are mediocre.
This is a very different place from Ivy Leagues, and I definitely made a stubborn mistake on choosing something I like as a major, while the school and alumni themselves don’t even give a shit about people like me, no matter how much we’ve demonstrate that we are as brilliant as those engineering majors.
Arnold’s brother is accepted to UT Business Honors Program, and I am very happy for his young bro. Now, as I reflect on my own choices of schools when I was in China, I regret not working harder on SAT, on essays and on everything. But regretting on the past does not help the present. I am a history major, and I challenge myself a lot with my historical studies. I have leadership in the Corps. Even if I made a mistake, I am going to carry on and make up for it.
The greatest achievement is not to get a great job through a great school, but to make up for my mistake and still achieve the same result. This is what I am going for. Fuck the practical mindset of A&M. I’ll try my best and I will make up for my mistake.
